Eoin Colfer was born in Wexford in 1965. Having qualified as a primary school teacher, he worked in Wexford before travelling and working in Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Italy. His first book, Benny and Omar, was published in 1998, based on his experiences in Tunisia; it has since been translated into many languages. He attained worldwide recognition in 2001, when the first Artemis Fowl book was published and became a New York Times Best Seller, Eoin went on to publish seven more Artemis Fowl titles. His novel, W.A.R.P: The Reluctant Assassin was nominated for the CBI Book of the Year in 2014. The following year, Imaginary Fred, his first picturebook, illustrated by Oliver Jeffers, won the Bord Gáis Energy Book of the Year. During his term as Laureate na nÓg, Eoin inaugurated a nationwide storytelling tour called Once upon a Place, which focused on the link between story and place. He also edited an anthology, of the same title, of short stories and poetry on the theme of magical places in Ireland. In 2019, Eoin launched a new book series, The Fowl Twins. His other book titles include The Wish List, The Supernaturalist, and the Legends series for younger readers, along with The Dog Who Lost His Bark, which was illustrated by former Laureate PJ Lynch. Eoin Colfer was Ireland's third Laureate na nÓg (2014 - 2016)
Rugadh Eoin Colfer i Loch Garman in 1965. Tar éis dó cáilíocht a bhaint amach mar mhúinteoir bunscoile, d’oibrigh sé i Loch Garman sula ndeachaigh sé ag obair san Araib Shádach, sa Túinéis agus san Iodáil. Foilsíodh a chéad leabhar, Benny and Omar, in 1998, bunaithe ar a sheal sa Túinéis; tá sé aistrithe go mórán teangacha eile ó shin. Bhain sé cáil dhomhanda amach in 2001 nuair a foilsíodh an chéad Artemis Fowl, a bhain áit amach ar an Liosta is Mó Díol ag an New York Times; d’fhoilsigh Eoin seacht leabhar eile sa tsraith Artemis Fowl ina dhiaidh sin. Ainmníodh a úrscéal, W.A.R.P: The Reluctant Assassin, le haghaidh Gradam Leabhar na Bliana CBI in 2014 agus bhuaigh Imaginary Fred, a chéad phictiúrleabhar, a mhaisigh Oliver Jeffers, Leabhar na Bliana Bord Gáis Energy in 2015. Le linn a thréimhse mar Laureate na nÓg, chuir Eoin tús le camchuairt náisiúnta seanchais, Once upon a Place, a dhírigh ar an nasc idir scéalta agus áiteanna. Rinne sé eagarthóireacht freisin ar dhíolaim, den teideal céanna, de ghearrscéalta agus filíocht ar théama na n-áiteanna draíochtúla in Éirinn. In 2019, sheol Eoin sraith nua leabhar dar teideal The Fowl Twins. I measc a leabhair eile tá The Wish List, The Supernaturalist, agus an tsraith Legends do léitheoirí níos óige, chomh maith le The Dog Who Lost His Bark, maisithe ag an iar-Laureate PJ Lynch. Ba é Eoin Colfer tríú Laureate na nÓg (2014-2016)
